This is most often done unconsciously, mainly during sleep or sometimes during the day if faced with a stressful situation. It can lead to a variety of unpleasant side effects:
If the cause isn’t down to an uneven bite, a tooth problem or injury, it can be related to
stress. Times in our lives when we experience change or unwanted tension can lead to us
clenching and grinding without being aware that we are doing it.
Hypnotherapy is known to be an effective approach to dealing with bruxism. It works by inducing
a relaxed state of the mind and bringing awareness of the condition as well as addressing the
underlying causes, which can sometimes include deep seated emotional issues.
I have a particular interest in this condition, as I have worked with a Maxillo Facial team
(head and neck specialists) in a hospital setting, who deal with many cases of Bruxism on a
daily basis.
I will help you to sub-consciously learn to break the habit and we will address the root cause
of problems that cause you to clench and grind and help you to learn effective coping strategies
for stress and relaxation.
The number of sessions will depend on what you need help with and the speed of your progress, each person will be different, and after our first meeting I will tailor a programme specifically for you. We can work together for as long as you need to you, until you get to where you want to be.
I see my clients on average for 4-6 Sessions, this depends on the individual needs of the
client. I find that a weekly session works well but I can be flexible. I also use NLP techniques
in many of my sessions.
4-6 session programme: £200-£300
